As Xofer pointed out, Franz Bardon has written a must read "Initiation into Hermetics" as the first in a series of three information packed books on Hermetic magick. I've only read the 'Initiation', and that was over a decade ago, although I also own his book "Practice of Magical Evocation". I was wondering who might be interested in a group reading/working of the "Initiation into Hermetics" with a chapter by chapter review posted here on the tribe?

Thu, February 5, 2004 - 3:58 PMI would be interested in this. Would anyone be willing to act as an instructor in this process? -

Re: Franz Bardon
Fri, February 6, 2004 - 7:17 AMI'd be interested as well.
I haven't read the initiation yet, though. Can't find it at the library, can't afford it yet... :-)

Sun, February 15, 2004 - 8:11 PMI haven't had any luck on convincing any hardcore Bardonites I know to devoting any time to such a project.

Sun, February 15, 2004 - 3:02 PMAfter reading the comments on this book I ordered a copy from the publisher. I feel that I am fairly skeptical, though admittedly uneducated, reader of Occult literature. I found this book to be more straight forward than most. I would be interested in joining a study group on this book.

Fri, March 5, 2004 - 10:59 AMI found a website: www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/6243/ which had some useful advice on practicing Franz Bardon's system.
The best advice I found was telling yourself that this was easy. It really is. I've seen some progress since practicing.
How're things going for you all? -

Re: Franz Bardon
Sun, March 7, 2004 - 6:58 AMThings are progressing well, I've managed to squeeze the first set of exercises into my daily magick work without sacrificing too much. And I’d have to agree with you, the exercises are easy as long as you don’t tell yourself that they are hard. I still can’t stand Bardon’s mixing of Pseudoscientific terminology with Hermetica, but otherwise I’m enjoying the slow pace we’ve set so far.

Sun, March 21, 2004 - 7:15 AMHas anyone had any luck understanding "electric and magnetic fluid" concept. I was totally lost until last night when certain ideas came to me. I am wondering if anyone else has any ideas or has had a similar expereince.

Re: Franz Bardon
Tue, October 26, 2004 - 9:02 AMI work with the initiation off and on. The understandings of the elements and elementals has been helpful, combined with the LBRP.
I've found that I can't repeat the exercises for 32 days (wherein they will become a habit). I've kind of put them aside, although I did do a LBRP today, to clear out some of the chaos around me. Helped a bit.
Hopefully, it'll help some more. More chaos to come.

Re: Franz Bardon
Tue, January 11, 2005 - 7:03 PMJohn, and all who responded, I read your post about starting a group discussion and working through the Franz Bardon's Initiation into Hermetics just the other day. Your invite to do this was nearly a year ago, and I just realized this, nevertheless I have begun working on a chapter 1 review, for those who are interested, to join discussion and explore the ideas. I hope it will be inspiring and draw alot of attention. I can lead this discussion, but my continuation will be based on group participation. I hope others will take lead in discussing some of the topics and ideas Bardon brings up.
I chose to do this because, even though I don't agree with everything Bardon says, and don't follow everything to a T, I feel this book is a great magical program for beginners and experienced practioners. Many of the techniques continue to be useful and helpful. Like you, I had read the book many years ago, worked with it about 2/3rds through, but continued on to other studies and sources. I think a group working and discussion would be motivating and inspiring to anyone who wants to learn.
I hope it's not too late.
Thanks for the invite to do this.
I hope you guys like it.
