Mental Transmutation

I recieved and read the Kybalion last week and joined this tribe yesterday. I share my thoughts in hope of insightful conversation and perhaps recommendation of further reading.

This alchemy of the mind is, to me, the crux of Hermeticsm. Detailed means to achieve this transmutation appear in numerous religious works, no doubt inspired by Hermetic thought. The New Testement of the Bible is one of these, though the power of its imagery seems to fall upon deaf ears in our age and many past.

It seems that in short, Mental Transmutation is accepting and applying the Principle of Correspondance that we may master the Principle of Polarity, Neutralizing it, in order to rise above the effects of the Principle of Rhythm on the Physical plane.

In the terms of Metaphysics, by knowing we are mental creators that exist on many planes of existence, we know that our thoughts create the current manifestation of our Selves. With this knowledge, we are aware that higher planes of existence influence and, in effect, create the lower planes. By observing our mind on all planes when we experience Polarity in the physical plane, we can choose to align our minds with the purpose of Polarity, and with the purpose of Rhythm. We can allow these Principles to work in the Physical world without letting their physical effects shake us in the Emotional plane, the Mental plane, or the Spiritual plane.

I have been working to do this very thing intensively for a year now, and am pleased to receive the Kybalion. I appreciate other perspectives on and experiences with Mental Transmutation.

    Hi Eye's,
well thought out piece on the Kyballion. I felt so strongly about it's principles that I created a mneumonic chant based on the 7 keys.

In working with this I found (imo) that the 7 keys have a variety of uses, which is only constrained by our understanding and imagination.

At first I found the 'keys' were useful as a template for increasing understanding of philosophy. When ever I would come to a passage in some book which defied understanding, usually the passage would hinge on some particualr word or sentence. I would then apply each of the keys in turn until one of them fit (concept/meaning) I was always rewarded with further understanding this way. For the information which I didn't understand, and subsequently increased understanding of the Hermetic keys. It was as if by doing this I could unlock the door to the writers mind and then step into his/her reality.

Later I discovered that all of the keys 'interact' with each other. I see the framework you have discovered being one of a hiearchy...that is that one key leads to another. But if you investigate further you will see that the opposite is true as well.

This can be demonstrated by applying the keys in reverse order to the Chakra's of the Kundalini Yoga system. In this scenario, you start with base substance of Life (MUldahara) and the 7th key of 'Gender' which according to the Kyballion 'everything contains it's opposite within it.'
Then by applying the keys from 7 - 1 while climbing the Kundalini ladder of the two serpents (as seen on the Cadeusus and the Hindu system of attainment) You will begin to see another view of possible reality , healing, and enlightenment.

These two different schools (Kundalini Yoga & Hermeticism) both are used for personal alchemy. They can be mutually applied to increase your efficiency as you make your way upon the royal path. Or as CG Jung called it 'Individuation.'
